Every Announcement From PlayStation’s January 2024 State Of Play

The gaming year has officially begun! PlayStation hosted the first State of Play of 2024 on January 31st. The presentation was packed with over 40 minutes of exciting announcements, trailers, and updates. Keep reading for full details on everything that happened during the January 2024 State of Play.

Helldivers II

Helldivers II kicked off the State of Play event with a brief trailer. Players got a taste of the game’s multiplayer action, and the trailer featured several different weapons. Liberate the galaxy with friends when Helldivers II releases on February 8, 2024.

Death Stranding 2

Officially titled Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, this sequel to 2019’s Death Stranding enticed fans with a lengthy trailer. The trailer showed a potential new adversary wielding a guitar-type weapon that shoots lightning. Fans can expect Death Stranding 2 sometime in 2025.

Hideo Kojima’s Announcement

After the Death Stranding 2 trailer, Hideo Kojima confirmed that his studio, Kojima Productions, is working on a new action espionage game for PlayStation. Titled Physint, this new game will focus on a new IP. No release date has been announced.

Sonic X Shadow Generations 

Sega announced an enhanced remaster of 2011’s Sonic Generations featuring new levels. The trailer showed off areas from the original game, as well as new locations where players take control of Shadow. Get ready to go fast when Sonic x Shadow Generations is released in the fall of 2024.

Zenless Zone Zero

Hoyoverse, the team behind Genshin Impact, unveiled that their newest game, Zenless Zone Zero, will be coming to PS5. While no release date was given, Hoyoverse said during the 2023 Game Awards that this title should be released sometime in 2024.

Silent Hill: The Short Message

Konami simultaneously announced and released Silent Hill: The Short Message during the January 2024 State of Play. As the title suggests, this is a short Silent Hill spin-off game. No waiting for this title – Silent Hill: The Short Message is already available to play (and it’s free)!

Silent Hill 2 Remake

Silent Hill fans were also treated to a new Silent Hill 2 Remake trailer showcasing various elements of gameplay. This game was announced in 2022, and this trailer is the first news fans have received regarding the highly anticipated remake. No release date has been announced.

Judas

Judas is an upcoming narrative-driven sci-fi thriller from BioShock creator Ken Levine. Levine’s new studio, Ghost Story Games, showed off a captivating story trailer for Judas during the January 2024 State of Play. No release date has been announced.

Foamstars

Square Enix revealed the content roadmap for Season One of the new 4v4 online party shooter Foamstars. The trailer also showed off more gameplay and several characters. Foamstars will be available on February 6, 2024, exclusively for PlayStation systems. PlayStation Plus members can grab the game for free as part of February’s lineup.

Dave the Diver

Hit game Dave the Diver will be coming to PlayStation consoles. A new trailer also revealed the game’s next DLC, featuring the King of Monsters himself – Godzilla! Dave the Diver will be available in April 2024, with the Godzilla DLC arriving the following month in May.

V Rising

Vampire game V Rising announced its first console release with a PlayStation 5 port. The trailer showed off various locations and gameplay elements of this survival/action RPG hybrid. The PlayStation release will include the full 1.0 version of the PC game. V Rising will be released sometime in 2024.

Stellar Blade

The highly anticipated action game Stellar Blade gave fans an extended gameplay trailer during the January 2024 State of Play showcase. The trailer highlighted the main character, Eve, and her companions, Adam and Lily. Get ready to indulge in stylish action combat when Stellar Blade releases on April 26, 2024.

Rise of the Ronin

Developers Team Ninja showed off their upcoming open-world samurai action game, Rise of the Ronin. The trailer gave players a look at the game’s combat, traversal, and character relationships. Travel to 19th-century Yokohama when Rise of the Ronin launches on March 22, 2024.

Until Dawn

Until Dawn was recently removed from the PlayStation store in some regions, and now we know why! The game is receiving a remaster this year, and the announcement trailer displayed the game’s new third-person mode and enhanced visuals. Players can return to Blackwood Moutain later this year.

Metro Awakening VR

The long-running post-apocalyptic Metro series is getting a VR release with Metro Awakening VR. The trailer didn’t show much gameplay, but Vertigo Games said this game is an origin story set before Metro 2033, which was developed specifically for PS VR2. Metro Awakening VR is scheduled for release sometime in 2024.

Legendary Tales

Legendary Tales is another upcoming game for PS VR2. This title is a dark fantasy RPG featuring melee and magic combat. The trailer also showed co-op play and destructible environments. Start your quest with Legendary Tales when it launches on February 8, 2024.

Dragon’s Dogma II

Capcom showed off another look at Dragon’s Dogma II, the upcoming sequel to 2012’s Dragon’s Dogma. The trailer mostly covered gameplay and gave players a look at the new Warfarer vocation. Become the Arisen when Dragon’s Dogma II releases on March 22, 2024.
